Student takes gun to school

READING, Pa. -

Two teenagers are facing charges after police said one took a gun to school and the other pointed it at a classmate.

It happened Wed., Nov. 20, in a classroom at the Citadel, Reading's intermediate high school, Sgt. John Solecki, Reading Police Dept., said Tuesday.

Police told 69 News that a 13-year-old male student took the gun to school from his house. It was then taken by a 14-year-old male student, who pointed the weapon at a third classmate, police said.

Both student suspects were detained Friday on charges of gun possession and reckless endangerment.

Police said the 14-year-old suspect has also been charged with simple assault and making terroristic threats.

As of Tuesday afternoon, calls made by 69 News to both the school and the district's interim superintendent were not returned.

By that point, parents with students in the school said they hadn't received any formal response, either.

"Nothing. No calls, no text, no emails. Nothing. No letter," said Milcha Baez, whose son attends the school.

"It's a little horrifying as a parent, not knowing what's going on in that school district," said Jennifer Slimmer. "[I'm] a little scared for my child to be there."
