A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit regarding a controversial roadside study in Reading.

READING, Pa. -

A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit regarding a controversial roadside study in Reading.

Ricardo Nieves filed a lawsuit in December after a stop on Laurel Street. He claimed his rights were violated when he was questioned about his driving habits and asked to provide a saliva sample. He refused.

The stop was part of a study by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

Under the deal, the city agreed not to participate or assist with similar studies during Mayor Vaughn Spencer's time in office.

The research group is still named in the suit.
