Shots fired during bank robbery

POTTSTOWN, Pa. -

The FBI and police say they are searching for an "armed and dangerous" man who robbed a Pottstown bank at gunpoint Saturday morning.

The drama unfolded inside the Wells Fargo Bank at 1470 East High Street.

According to the FBI, the robber walked into the bank at around 9:15 a.m. with a semi-automatic pistol drawn and demanded cash. He fired several shots into the ceiling and at the bulletproof divider protecting the tellers, according to the FBI.

The robber eventually fled empty-handed, leaving the west side of the building on foot.

Officials said no one was physically injured, although one woman was seen being treated by medical personnel out the bank shortly after the robbery.

The robber is described as a black male, between the ages of 20 and 30, about 6 feet in height and weighing 200 pounds.

The FBI says this man is "considered armed and dangerous."

Anyone with information is urged to call the FBI at 215-641-8910 or Pottstown police at 610-970-6570.

The FBI said there could be a reward for information leading to the robber's capture; tipsters can remain anonymous.
