A Harrisburg city councilman has set his sights on a statewide job.
Brad Koplinski plans to run for lieutenant governor.
He's been a councilman for the past five years.
He's also an attorney who worked on campaigns for Senator Arlen Specter in 2010, Senator Hillary Clinton in her 2008 presidential campaign and controller for the 2008 Obama-Biden Pennsylvania campaign.
Koplinski says his campaign platform will be to help the state's municipalities make their own decisions without being dictated to by the governor and state legislature.
“Pennsylvania’s municipalities are in trouble. They are spending more money than they are taking in," Koplinski said. "heir infrastructures are crumbling. They are not allowed to generate their own revenue without asking for permission from the Governor and the Legislature. Having fought Governor Corbett in determining the best course for Harrisburg, I want to be able to continue that fight on behalf of all of our cities, towns and boroughs.”
Koplinski will make his formal announcement Monday at noon in the rotunda of the Pennsylvania State Capitol.
