LOWER NAZARETH TWP., Pa. -

A woman is facing charges for shoplifting from two stores in Northampton County on the same day last month, officials said.

Tara L. Rompilla was caught with $514.82 in merchandise she had stolen from the Kohl's department store at 3768 Easton-Nazareth Highway, Lower Nazareth Township, on July 16, after police stopped her in a black Jeep that was leaving the parking lot of the Dicks Sporting Goods store at 4423 Birkland Place, Bethlehem Township, about six miles away, officials said.

While searching the Jeep, police also found $97.50 worth of merchandise that Rompilla admitted to taking from Dicks, officials said.

Rompilla was accompanied by a man, another woman and an infant in a stroller while she was shoplifting, officials noted.

Kohl's store security alerted police about the shoplifting, but Rompilla and her companions had already left the store as well as the Sports Authority store across the street before police arrived, officials said.

Rompilla, of 481 West Berwick St., Easton, was arraigned early Wednesday morning -- on her 19th birthday -- on two counts of retail theft and released on $1,500 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 18.
