WIND GAP, Pa. -

A Northampton County man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer during a bogus drug investigation and then assaulting a real officer as police took him into custody.

Michael Schedin, 27, of Wind Gap, was impersonating an officer in the unit block of East Center Street late Tuesday night, police said.

Schedin was approaching people and asking them for identification as part of a bogus drug investigation, according to police.

Officers escorted Schedin back to his apartment, only to be called back there for a domestic incident at 1 a.m. Wednesday.

During the second visit, Schedin resisted arrest, grabbing an officer by the throat, according to police.

Officers were able to subdue and restrain Schedin and take him into custody, police said.
Schedin is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and impersonating a police officer. He is being held at Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail.
