Updated On: Sep 01 2014 10:32:04 AM CDT
Pohatcong police are looking for men they say have been posing as utility employees in order to rob homes.
At least three incidents occurred in the township over the last few months, police said.
The latest incident was reported on Aug. 25 in the 200 block Victory Avenue in the Parkside area, according to police.
Police said there had been additional incidents on the southern end of the township.
According to police, the men seem to be targeting elderly residents, and creating some kind of distraction while one or two from the group remove valuables from the home.
Police said there have been no acts of violence associated with these incidents.
A composite sketch of one of the men was released. Police are also offering residents the following tips:
1. Ask the worker for identification.
2. Check to see if the vehicle is marked with a company logo.
3. Call your utility provider or police if the individual tries to get inside your home, without having prior notice.
4. Report suspicious activity to authorities.
Anyone with information should contact Pohatcong Township Police Department at 908-454-9836.
