BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man choked, slapped and pulled his wife's hair after he accused her of having an affair, officials said.

Juan P. Urquiza assaulted his wife of eight years during an argument in their home in the 500 block of Wyandotte Street in Bethlehem at about 7 a.m. Saturday, officials said.

After his wife managed to get his hands off her neck, Urquiza slapped her several times, pulled her hair and grabbed her arm when she tried to escape, officials said.

Urquiza, 30, was arraigned on charges of aggravated and simple assault and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $7,500 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. May 29.
