Man jumps from moving ambulance

UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. -

Police in Lehigh County say a drunk man jumped out of a moving ambulance while being transported to the hospital early Saturday morning.

Upper Macungie Township police say Michael Fair of Wernersville was being transported by Kutztown EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedeard Crest around 2:20 a.m. Saturday.

Fair was intoxicated and being belligerent towards EMS personnel, according to police.

That's when Fair jumped out of the back of the ambulance while it was passing through the intersection of Route 100 and Schantz Road, police said.

He ran away from the ambulance crew. Police say they found him a short time later walking along I-78 West about a half-mile west of the Route 100 exit.

Police say he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the hospital.
