Shot in face

WALKER TWP., Pa. -

A 58-year-old Schuylkill County man has been charged with attempted homicide after allegedly shooting a 27-year-old man in the face following a dispute.

The shooting happened around 7:50 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Reynolds Road in Walker Township.

State police said John Edwin Cluase drove to Mark Scheitrum's Walker Township home, where the two got into a verbal argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.

According to police, Clause then pulled a handgun and shot Scheitrum in the face. Police said Scheitrum fled from his home and was later located by a neighbor.  Scheitrum was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

Clause was taken into custody at his residence.

State police would not elaborate on what led to the dispute that preceded the shooting.

Clause was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. He was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison on $75,000 bail.
