Woman with home in "deplorable condition" heading to trial

A Monroe County woman charged with endangering the welfare of children and animal cruelty, for allegedly allowing deplorable conditions in her home, is now facing a trial.

Kennda Justice waived her preliminary hearing in court Wednesday, setting the stage for a trial.

Authorities said the 33-year-old Tobyhanna woman was arrested back in January after police responded to a report that Justice's 5-year-old daughter was missing.

Police said when they arrived at her home on Winding Way, they smelled urine, feces and rotting food.

Officials said sewage was being pumped from the toilet into the bath tub, and two dogs had feces in their cages.

Following the incident, Justice's four daughters were placed in protective custody.
