MAHONING TWP., Pa. -

Two men believed to be involved in multiple retail thefts in the area were nabbed Friday after stealing televisions from a Carbon County Walmart and leading police on a pursuit, according to police.

Mahoning Township police were called out to Walmart on Route 443 Friday for a report of theft.

Police said the suspect vehicle, a minivan, was seen a short time later in the parking lot of a nearby gas station. Police said the vehicle sped off into oncoming traffic on the Mccall Bridge before turning around onto Route 248.

As the pursuit continued into Weissport, the suspects stopped the van and ran away, leaving behind two large screen televisions and used needles, according to police.

The driver, Elias Cruz of Allentown, was captured a short time later, police said.

The other suspect, Manuel Rivera-Agosto, was taken into custody in the Walnutport area after police used GPS tracking from his cell phone to pinpoint his whereabouts.

Police said Cruz admitted to using the synthetic drug K2, and Rivera-Agosto admitted to using heroin.

Mahoning Township Police Chief Audie Mertz said the men are suspects in a recent theft at Kmart in Lehigh Township, and may have been involved in thefts in other areas.

Cruz and Rivera-Agosto are both being held in Carbon County Prison.
