The man police had to shoot to stop is now facing numerous charges. He led officers on a wild chase through Schuylkill County Monday.
According to court documents, 69-year-old John Anthony Pino, of 309 E. Center St. in Shenandoah, led police from a Walmart in St. Clair borough to Port Carbon, onto Route 61 , onto Interstate 81, and Route 54 before his SUV got stuck in a ditch.
The chase began just before 4 p.m. Monday and even after Pino ran through spike strips, he tried to drive away, nearly hitting several officers, police said.
One of the officers at the scene shot Pino, who was then taken to Geisinger Hospital in Danville, where he was last reported to be in critical condition, police said.
Pino faces eight counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elud officer and numerous traffic violations.
