A young girl has died after drowning in East Stroudsburg on Independence Day, officials say.
Ten-year-old Leila Cordova was found at the bottom of the Dansbury Park Pool around 7 p.m. during an event called Freedom Fest.
Police say lifeguards immediately dove into the pool and rescued the girl. She was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Lifeguards immediately started CPR.
Suburban EMS Paramedics transported her to Pocono Medical Center. The girl was airlifted later that evening to the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township.
The Lehigh County coroner said Cordova died Sunday morning in Lehigh Valley Hospital from drowning.
The young girl is from Bronx, New York and was vacationing with her family.
