A Hess gas station attendant is recovering from several broken bones in his face sustained during an attack that occurred Monday.
Police say a man walked into the station at 100 N. Ninth Street in Strousdsburg Borough around 4 p.m and immediately began to beat and punch the attendant on his head and face.
The man asked for money as he beat the attendant but did not stop even after the attendant handed over the money.
The man continued beating the attendant, asking for more money.
He then went through the attendant's clothes and took the attendant's own money as well as other personal items, police say.
At this time, police are not revealing the amount of money taken during the robbery for investigative purposes.
Police say the station attendant sustained head and facial injuries and is being treated at Pocono Medical Center at this time.
Police describe the robber as a black male, is in his late 30s, about 6'2" tall and weighs about 230 pounds.
He wore a blue long coat that went down past his waist, a dark color skull cap with a white, unknown badge on the front, and white sneakers.
The man fled the gas station on foot, east on Sarah St. towards North Eighth Street, according to police.
Police say the suspect was seen in a small black vehicle driven by a black female just before the incident.
Police are asking any one with information to contact the detective unit of Stroud Area Regional Police Department at 570-421-6800.
