Fire destroys Carbon County home

A fire that leveled one home and damaged others in Carbon County is being considered suspicious, officials said.

The home went up in flames just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

The fire remains under investigation, and officials said they are considering the possibility of foul play.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they described the home as being a “fire ball."

Fire companies from Carbon, Monroe, Lehigh and Northampton counties responded.

Three neighboring homes, including one across the street, had siding melted from the extreme heat.

Little Gap Road was closed for several hours and the three neighboring homes were temporarily evacuated. Everyone has since been allowed to return to their homes, officials said.

Due to the remote location of the site, water had to be tanked into the scene.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

As of Sunday afternoon, officials said they were still trying to get in touch with the owner of the destroyed house.
