A man was driving under the influence when he topped speeds of 115 miles per hour during a police chase in the Poconos, according to authorities.
State Police said the pursuit started around 5:45 p.m. Saturday on I-80 West near the Bartonsville exit in Monroe County.
The driver, later identified as Papa Amadou Sambe of Queens, N.Y., took off when police tried to stop him for driving a stolen vehicle.
Police said Sambe reached speeds in excess of 115 miles per hour as the pursuit continued onto I-380.
Troopers were able to catch up with Sambe as he exited I-380 and stop him at the intersection Route 611 and Route 423.
Police said field sobriety tests concluded Sambe was under the influence of a controlled substance.
He is facing a long list of charges including: receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering, DUI, fleeing and eluding, possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and multiple traffic violations.
Sambe was transported to the Monroe County Prison.
