David Holloway of Mount Pocono arrested for attempted armed robbery
MOUNT POCONO, Pa. -

A robber armed with a stun gun quickly was arrested by police Friday morning, after he attempted to rip off the Tobacco Outlet along Route 611 in Mount Pocono.

A store clerk who grabbed a baseball bat ended the robbery attempt.

Thirty-year-old David Holloway of Mount Pocono was charged with criminal attempt at robbery, carrying a prohibited offensive weapon, criminal use of an incapacitation device, terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault and tampering with evidence.

According to Pocono Mountain Regional Police, Holloway demanded the cash register in the store while holding and activating the stun gun by charging the electrodes.

The suspect fled on foot when the store employee grabbed the baseball bat.

Police responding to the crime within minutes had a good description of the suspect.  Several witnesses told police they saw a male matching that description run into a wooded area near Reeder Street.

Police found Holloway as he tried to get away. In the nearby woods, they found the clothing he wore during his robbery attempt -- including a black hoody, his cell phone, the stun gun he had used and even a soda he purchased earlier at the Tobacco store.

Police said the store's surveillance video confirmed Holloway was their man.

After arraignment, the suspect apparently was jailed with bail set at $25,000.
