Monroe County investigators say they've figured out the cause of a standoff.

TUNKHANNOCK TWP., Pa. -

Prosecutors have filed additional charges against a Monroe County man accused of holding a woman and her young daughter hostage last week.

Edward Terantino sexually assaulted the 29-year-old woman when she was 14-years-old, prosecutors revealed Wednesday.

Terantino, officials said, had also been stalking the woman and a friend of hers over the last three months, prompting the standoff with police at a home in Tunkhannock Township last Wednesday.

Terantino, police said, held the woman and her 6-year-old daughter hostage inside the home before releasing them and surrendering to police.

Terantino was arraigned Wednesday on felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual assault with a person less than the age of 16, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault with a person less than the age of 16, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors. He was also slapped with a misdemeanor charge of stalking.

Bail was set at $75,000.
