Two teens stole a pickup and went on a couple of joy rides through Monroe County this week, police say.

Police said a 14-year-old boy from Hamilton Twp. stole a pickup truck awaiting mechanical work at Mark's Auto at 2717 Hamilton East Road in the township around 10 p.m. Monday.

While trying to steal the truck, the boy hit two cars on the way to his 15-year-old friend's house and the two drove throughout Hamilton Twp. into the early morning  hours Tuesday, police said. They hid the truck in a wooded area near Haney Road.

Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, the two returned to the hidden pickup truck and again drove around the township and onto property along Manor Drive, causing damage to the land, police said.

The boys then abandoned the truck along Business 209 in Hamilton Twp., which was found by state troopers around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The two boys were detained through the Monroe County Juvenile  Probation Department and charged with criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking, unauthorized use of automobiles, criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespass by motor vehicle and numerous summary traffic offenses.
