A new report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) found that New Hampshire is the best state to live in the U.S. for many reasons, one of which is its low crime rate.

A Schuylkill County couple was killed in an apparent murder-suicide on Christmas Day, police said.

Authorities said they believe Richard Weikel fatally shot his wife during an argument, then called an ex-wife to say he couldn't spend his life in prison.

The ex-wife, authorities said, alerted police, who were dispatched around 1:20 a.m. and arrived to find both Weikel, 37, and his 28-year-old wife Stephanie dead in the kitchen of their apartment in Mahanoy City.

Authorities said they found three weapons at the scene -- a handgun and two long rifles. They said they believe Weikel fatally shot his wife, then turned the gun on himself.
