Fire crews battle massive blaze in Shenandoah

SHENENDOAH, Pa. -

Fire crews from around the Schuylkill County area were called to a massive blaze involving a row of homes in Shenandoah.

The fire broke out around 3 a.m. Saturday in the 30 block of West Coal Street.

An official at the Schuylkill County Communications Center said "several dozen fire companies" responded.

The official described the fire as "intense," but he did not have information on the number of structures involved in the blaze.

Three people were transported to the hospital, as of 5:50 Saturday morning. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.
