East Stroudsburg mobile home fire death ruled accidental

Fatal fire in E. Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -

An 85-yerar-old man whose body was found while firefighters were extinguishing a Friday morning blaze died accidentally, according to Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen.

Firefighters foundĀ  the body as they were working to extinguish a fire in a mobile home in Monroe County Friday morning.

The victim was 85-year-old Harold A. Weidele, a resident of the mobile home. He died as a result of smoke inhalation due to the fire, Allen said.

The fire was reported around 8 a.m. and was under control in about an hour, officials said.

The mobile home was located at 21 Buttonwood Court in East Stroudsburg.

Allen said initial reports show Weidele was trapped inside the residence during the fire.

He was declared dead at the scene at 9:15 a.m.

Fire marshals are still investigating the cause of the fire.
