Tamaqua woman charged with making methamphetamine

TAMAQUA, Pa. -

A 38-year-old Tamaqua woman was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine in her apartment on Friday.

Executing a search warrant based on the suspected production of methamphetamine, at 9 a.m. Friday Tamaqua Police raided the apartment at 29 E. Elm St.

Thirty-eight-year-old Jacqueline Slavin, who rents the apartment, was charged with the manufacture of methamphetamine, manufacture with intent to deliver the drug and possession of a controlled substance.

She also was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and recklessly endangering the welfare of a child.

Several other unidentified people were detained by police and charged with various drug crimes.  Police also seized various amounts of money, drugs and other evidence.  More arrests may follow, according to police.

Police said the search was done following tips from residents and investigations that continued for several months, which included surveillance and information from informants.

Tamaqua Police were assisted by Rush Township Police and the State Police Clandestine Lab Response Team.
