Pete Rose in Pa.

ROYERSFORD, Pa. -

Former baseball star Pete Rose was in Pennsylvania Sunday, speaking about making mistakes and second chances.

The Philadelphia Inquirer says Rose spoke at Christ's Church of the Valley in Royersford, Montgomery County.

Rose was banned from baseball in 1989 for betting on games while he was manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

Rose admitted during the talk that he was wrong, but says he should be allowed back in baseball because drug users and alcoholics have been given second and third chances in the sport.

But he also says he can't complain because he's the one who screwed up.

The church invited Rose to speak, and Pastor Brian Jones says that the Bible speaks about the need to give people another chance.

The pastor declined to say how much Rose charged for the appearances.
