BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A Virginia man who walked into an apartment uninvited after attending a campus party is in trouble with the law, officials said.

John C. Searight was arrested after asking police for a ride home to Virginia when he was found blocking traffic in the middle of East 4th Street, near Hill Street, in Bethlehem at 10:05 p.m. Friday, officials said.

Searight told officers that he had run away from a party when police showed up, and that he used to attend to Lehigh University before transferring to the University of Virginia, officials noted.

Searight smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and his speech was slurred, officials added.

The man who had called police, Victor Bermudez, said he found Searight inside his apartment at 1107 E. 4th St. and that Searight told him he was there "to get some stuff," officials said.

Searight left after Bermudez told him to get out several times, officials noted.

Searight, 20, of Great Falls, Va., was charged with criminal trespass, illegal possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $5,000, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 5.
