POCONO SUMMIT, Pa. -

Parents hurrying to the scene of their son's accident were involved in a second accident early Wednesday morning on Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County.

Here's what happened, according to Pocono Mountain Regional Police:

Israel Matos III was traveling north on Route 115 when his 2002 Jeep veered off the right side of the road near the WT Family Campground.

The Jeep struck a large tree and overturned.

The tree fell, blocking Route 115.

Matos called his parents, Maria and Israel Matos, Jr., who headed to the accident scene in their Ford Expedition.

They approached at a high rate of speed about 3:20 a.m., according to police, and did not see the tree in the road until it was too late. They swerved left. Their SUV ran off the left side of the road and also overturned.

All three members of the family were injured and transported by ambulance to Pocono Medical Center. The hospital would not divulge any information on the conditions of the family members.
