PALMER TWP., Pa. -

The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors approved a motion to prohibit overnight parking on a busy township road during Tuesday night's meeting.

More than four business owners near 3381 Foxhill Road have complained to township officials about tractor-trailers or their cabs being parked in the area that goes west of Van Buren Road to a cul-de sac and supervisors responded by banning such parking between the hours of 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Signs will be installed to indicate this fact, according to President David Colver. Enforcement will include a fine, according to Police Chief Larry Palmer.

In other business Tuesday night, supervisors approved the township's contribution to three separate employees' pension or retirement plans for next year. The five-member body approved an allocation of $466,142 for the police pension plan, $145,772 to the township's non-uniform defined benefit retirement plan and $5,379 to the non-uniform defined contribution retirement plan.

In addition the supervisors agreed to implement a new registration system for township sporting activities. The new web-based product would "simplify the registration process," according to Supervisor Robert Smith.
