HARRISBURG, Pa. -

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley is in a hospital undergoing tests after he felt light-headed while presiding over a state Senate session.

A Capitol nurse examined Cawley after he fell ill and sent him to the hospital, Chad Saylor, Cawley's spokesman, said Monday.

Cawley is at Harrisburg Hospital, said Saylor, adding that the lieutenant governor is awake, alert and anxious to get back to work.

After becoming lightheaded about 3 p.m., Cawley left the Senate rostrum and went to an adjoining room of the Senate chamber.

Cawley is a former Bucks County commissioner.
