HARRISBURG, Pa. -

Gov. Tom Corbett says he has read a report from the state attorney general's office on the handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case.

However, Corbett said Tuesday he won't comment on it until it is released publicly.

The attorney general's office says that, before it makes the report public, certain people discussed in it are being given the opportunity to read it and respond in writing.

In her 2012 campaign, Attorney General Kathleen Kane promised an investigation into how the Sandusky case was handled. She repeatedly questioned why it took nearly three years for charges to be filed against the former Penn State assistant football coach.

The investigation began while Corbett was still attorney general.

Sandusky was arrested in November 2011 and convicted eight months later.
