A Lancaster city couple are behind bars after they allegedly traveled out of state to pick up a teen for sex.
Police said Alexander Ramos-Pacheco, 24 and his girlfriend, Heather Orlando, 23, traveled to Chicago from their Lafayette St. home and retrieved a 15-year-old girl they met online.
"What is wrong with people? It's crazy," said neighbor Victoria Thomas.
"Very sick human beings," said Deb Wiley.
According to Lancaster Sgt. Bill Hickey, the investigation began on Monday, after a concerned neighbor alerted police to the crime.
Lancaster Police then corroborated with Chicago investigators, learning that the teen had been reported missing there on Apr. 2.
Police said it was then another alert citizen who spotted the teen with Ramos-Pacheco around Fulton and Franklin streets, and called police.
The two were arraigned Tuesday on numerous felony charges, including corruption of a minor and aggravated indecent assault.
Fortunately, police said the teen is safe and was returned to her family.
Sgt. Hickey said the case should serve as a cautionary tale for parents when it comes to their child's online activity.
"Know what your kids are doing. Know who they're talking to," said Hickey. "Know their passwords and monitor their activity online."
