Governor Tom Corbett announced Friday that emergency personnel working to restore power and protect the public in the wake of Hurricane Sandy will have more time to apply for and return absentee ballots.
An executive order signed by the governor today allows voters who will be out of their county to apply for an absentee ballot until Monday November 5th at 5:00 p.m. This initial application may be faxed or emailed, or may be made in person by the voter or a family member.
The ballots from emergency personnel covered by the order will be counted if they are received by county election board by 5p.m. on the seventh day following the election, Tuesday November 13th.
Although applications for absentee ballots may be faxed or emailed, voters must return the original, signed absentee ballot to the county. Both the original application and the voted ballot must be postmarked by 5p.m. Monday November 5th. The application and ballot must be received by the county board of elections by 5p.m. on November 13th.
