SALISBURY TWP., Pa. -

A power outage in Lehigh County affected traffic lights, doctors' offices and Lehigh Valley Hospital for a little more than an hour Friday morning.

A tree fell on some power lines and knocked out electricity to the buildings across Cedar Crest Boulevard from the hospital in Salisbury Twp., Lehigh Co., according to hospital officials.

The hospital was put on its backup generators between 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., and the professional buildings on the east side of Cedar Crest were evacuated. Those buildings are leased by the hospital.

The 1259 building will remain closed the rest of Friday due to a malfunctioning electrical system, officials said.

The outage also affected traffic signals on Hamilton Boulevard.

PPL restored power to all Lehigh County customers by shortly after noon.
