WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -

Authorities say the shooting that critically injured two young girls at an apartment complex in Luzerne County may have stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Police have not reported any arrests in connection with the gunfire that erupted at about 1:30 p.m. at the Sherman Hills Apartments in Wilkes-Barre.

District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said a 2-year-old girl was in critical condition and a 5-year-old was listed in critical but stable condition.

She told The (Wilkes-Barre) Times Leader that the girls appeared to have been living or staying in the apartment where the shooting occurred.

City officials said in a statement Sunday evening that initial evidence suggests that the shooting resulted from a domestic dispute and it appeared that the general public was not in any danger.
