NORTHAMPTON, Pa. -

The Northampton Borough Council was presented with a check for over $5,000 from the Paw Prints on the Canal Event that was held in the Borough on June 2nd. The money raised at the event benefits the K9 Unit of the Borough Police Department.

According to Tom Glick, a community member in charge of the Event alongside his wife, Julia, and Candi Lynn, over 1,200 people were in attendance at the Event this year. The check that was presented to Officer John Mullner and Council President John Yurish was in the amount of $5,015. According to Glick, this was a 24% increase over the funds raised at last year’s event.

According to Lynn, the Event had 85 vendors present this year, which was also a significant increase over the amount of vendors from last year.

“I am [very] proud we have your caliber of people in the Borough,” commented Council Member Anthony Lopsonzski, Sr. to Lynn and the Glicks as they presented the check to Council.

“Paws on the Canal was a fantastic event because of the people and the location in which it was held,” commented Council Member Tony Pristash.

The Paw Prints on the Canal Event for next year will be held on June 1st, 2014. More information regarding the event can be found on the Paw Prints on the Canal Facebook page.
