A chance to help those less fortunate

WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. -

Thousands of charities are asking for your support.

It's Giving Tuesday, the newest addition after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Charities and non-profits said it's a good way to bring the community together, and to remember what the holidays are supposed to be all about, which is giving.

"I just think that Giving Tuesday is such a powerful movement. I really hope that we can garner some community support and make it even bigger next year," said Tina Huyler, store manager for Ten Thousand Villages at the Lehigh Valley Mall near Allentown.

The store is donating 15 percent of all sales Tuesday to Toys for Tots. Ten Thousand Villages and the Lehigh Valley Mall are also accepting new, unwrapped toys to donate to Toys for Tots.

In addition, the mall is accepting donations for the Simon Youth Foundation.

Other organizations asking for Giving Tuesday support include the Red Cross and KidsPeace Children's Fund.
