New Jersey is going the extra mile to make its roads a little more pedestrian friendly.

hackettstown in Warren County is one of five communities that kicked off the state's "Be Street Smart" program Wednesday.

Officials are putting up road-side signs reminding drivers to obey speed limits and to stop for pedestrian in crosswalks.

Pedestrians are reminded to wait for the "walk" signal in the crosswalk.
