Warren County Freeholders approved grants for three local churches to be restored during Wednesday night's meeting. The votes were unanimous from Everett A. Chamberlain, Freeholder Director, Richard D. Gardner, Deputy Freeholder Director and Jason J. Sarnoski, Freeholder.
Grants were awarded to fund restorations for the United Methodist Church, Washington, in the amount of $148,202; The Westminster Presbyterian Church, Phillipsburg in the amount of $98,000 and The Oxford Second Presbyterian Church, Oxford Township, in the amount of $382,000.
"On behalf of our congregation, I deeply appreciate the approval of the historical renovation grant for our sanctuary building," said Jean McMullan, the Senior Pastor of the United Methodist Church. McMullan stated that the church will be using the grant to take care of the roofing of the church, which was built in 1895.
