HACKETTSTOWN,, N.J. -

Police in Warren County, New Jersey, are piecing together a physical dispute that apparently started with a road rage incident.

On Thursday, Hackettstown police responded to a fight in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot at 170 Route 182 around 7 p.m.

Investigators determined that the victim was driving down Schooley's Mountain Road and passed a vehicle.

A passenger in that vehicle was 29-year-old Rocco Malanga of Cedar Grove Twp., Essex Co., N.J.  The car Malanga was in followed the victim into the Dunkin Donuts.

Police said Malanga approached the victim and confronted him about the road rage incident, then knocked the victim's coffee out of his hands.

A verbal argument started outside and then Malanga allegedly choked and shoved the victim, police said.

The victim suffered redness to his neck and complained of pain.

Malanga was charged with simple assault.
