While school security is a hot topic New Jersey school districts are undergoing surprise security inspections.
A memo that state officials sent to school districts in the wake of the school shooting in Connecticut has gone public.
The memo says local and state law enforcement will make unannounced visits to schools starting this month.
Officials want to make sure schools can perform lockdown drills correctly.
The state already requires schools to hold a lockdown drill and a shooting drill twice per year.
School administrators will also get more safety training.
