PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. -

Storm damage along the Delaware River in Phillipsburg, N.J., will be repaired sometime soon.

Stan Schrek, Phillipsburg town engineer, addressed the Phillipsburg Town Council with the results of his initial search for a contractor for the project.

Schrek had sorted through 12 responses to bidding packages for the project and selected the lowest bidder after an interview.

The project entails using brush mattresses to secure the bank of one side of the river. The area had seen a lot of erosion after storms in 2011.

The council gave Schrek approval to send a letter of intent to the contractor forerunner. Schrek plans to present a formal recommendation to the council at its next meeting.
