PEN ARGYL, Pa. -

A man is behind bars for making the wallets of two brothers lighter while they were working out at a gym two months ago, officials said.

Cody J. Singleton took $80 from the wallet of Tioga Anderson and $10 from the wallet of his brother, Ian Anderson, after breaking into the basement of their home at 526 West Pennsylvania Ave., Pen Argyl, Northampton Co., between 4 and 4:30 on July 24, officials said.

The Anderson brothers were working out at the Snap Fitness gym, 426 Blue Valley Drive, Bangor, while their neighbor, Singleton, was stealing from their wallets, which they left on a coffee table in a basement entertainment room, officials added.

The Anderson brothers' dad, Todd Anderson, told police Singleton was "extremely nervous, as if he was doing something" when he found Singleton standing near the basement entrance around 4:30 p.m. July 24, just after he had returned home from work and had parked his vehicle in a vacant lot at the rear of his property, officials said.

Tioga Anderson found $80 missing from his wallet the next day, when he was preparing to pay for lunch for himself and his dad, officials said, noting that Ian Anderson discovered $10 was missing from his wallet after a call from Tioga.

Singleton agreed to be interviewed by police on July 28, but he never showed up, officials pointed out.

Singleton, 21, of 522 West Pennsylvania Ave., Pen Argyl, was arraigned early Saturday morning on charges of burglary and criminal trespass and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $50,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 27.
