Multiple injuries, entrapment reported in crash on Perkiomen Avenue in Exeter

At least five people were injured in an accident that closed a busy stretch of road in Berks County for about an hour Thursday afternoon.

EXETER TWP., Pa. -

Several people were injured in an accident that closed a stretch of Perkiomen Avenue in Exeter Twp., Berks Co., for about an hour Thursday afternoon.

The chain-reaction accident, involving three westbound cars and an eastbound car, was reported around 2:45 p.m. Thursday on Perkiomen Avenue, also designated as Route 422 Business, at West 34th Street.

At least five people were taken to area hospitals, said police on the scene, adding that their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Perkiomen Avenue remained closed between West 34th and 36th streets until about 3:40 p.m. while police investigated the accident and crews removed the wreckage.
