Muhlenberg hosts 2nd District game in program history

The Muhls turned in another strong season this year, earning a District III home game in the process.

LAURELDALE -

For just the second time in program history, Laureldale will play host to a District III football game. Muhlenberg takes on Shippensburg as the Muhls look to advance to the District quarterfinals.

The Muhls earned the 8-seed in the District III tournament following a 7-3 campaign.

Rich Kolka has really turned the program around in two years. Recall, the Muhls went 2-8 in 2011.

Muhlenberg has done it this year behind one of the most dominant defenses in Berks County.

Led by the county's touchdown champion Ben Ortiz, Muhlenberg also dazzled at times on offense, but found some trouble moving the ball consistently against tough defenses.

Shippensburg is sure to provide a tough, physical challenge. But it's a challenge this team feels ready to face, especially after going through a trying Berks Section I schedule.
