One day after the victim of a brutal murder is laid to rest, 69 News is learning more about the man who police say killed the Schuylkill County woman.
Anthony Heath sits in a Lehigh County Prison cell. The 24-year-old Allentown man was arrested in North Carolina less than 24 hours after investigators found a woman's body on fire in Jim Thorpe, Carbon County.
State Police identified the remains as Angela Steigerwalt. The 35-year-old Tamaqua woman hadn't been seen since she left work on Jan. 31.
According to court paperwork, Steigerwalt was badly burned. Troopers found metal wire around her neck and believe her legs were also bound with wire. Earlier this week Steigerwalt's family spoke about the homicide.
"Angela was a sweetheart. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She loved animals," shared her uncle Donald Serfass. "We'll just miss her. We're heartbroken."
A memorial service for Steigerwalt was held Saturday. On Facebook, her husband Gary wrote, "She was a one of a kind wife, and a great stepmother to Brendon. We're lost without her, and miss her so much."
It's unclear how Steigerwalt and Heath knew each other, but 69 News has learned they were friends on Facebook. Folks living near Heath in Allentown tell us they'd seen Steigerwalt's car in the neighborhood.
Now Heath's brother is sounding off, saying through email the suspected killer drove to North Carolina to meet their younger brother.
Richard says Anthony has a criminal history including DUI and a simple assault conviction for allegedly biting his own baby.
The 26-year-old calls his little brother crazy, saying "I want him to rot in jail where he belongs." Richard says he wants nothing to do with his younger brother, and did not know if he knew Steigerwalt.
Heath faces six charges in connection with Steigerwalt's homicide. He's set to be in court again on Valentine's Day.
