SMITHFIELD TWP., Pa. -

Authorities in Monroe County say they are investigating the attempted abduction of a 20-year-old woman in Smithfield Township.

State Police say the woman was walking along Route 447, at around 6 p.m. Friday, when a man driving by asked her if she needed a ride. She replied no.

Police say the man then parked the car on the side of the road and waited for woman to walk by. As the woman walked past the vehicle, the man grabbed her arm, according to police.

Police say the woman was able to break free from his grasp and run to a nearby residence.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male in his mid 30s with a muscular build, short black hair and a black mustache. Police say he was wearing a white, dirty tank top and was driving an old black four-door sedan, possibly a Ford. The vehicle was said to be in poor condition.
