Monroe Co - Rt 611 Bridge Project in Pocono Twp

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the rehabilitated PA 611 Bridge over Pocono Creek in Pocono Township, Monroe County opened late yesterday afternoon.      

There is additional work that will occur over the next several weeks that may require occasional lane restrictions on PA 611 or Bartonsville Avenue. This work includes paving, line painting and landscaping.

The project began in September 2013 and involved repairing the beams and replacing the deck on the two span, pre-stressed concrete adjacent box beam bridge.

Leeward Construction, Inc. of Honesdale, Pa. is the general contractor on the $2,489,984 project.

The PA 611 Bridge was originally constructed in 1957. It is 136 feet long and 52 feet wide and prior to this work was posted with a weight restriction of 17 tons, 22 tons for combinations (the bridge is no longer weight restricted). This section of PA 611 has an average daily traffic volume of 19,380 vehicles.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the next phase of construction will begin on Thursday, July 24 on the project to repair the structurally deficient PA 611 Bridge over Pocono Creek in Pocono Township, Monroe County.

Beginning on Thursday, PA 611 northbound traffic will be detoured between Rimrock Drive/Bartonsville Avenue and Bartonsville Avenue. The detour will utilize Bartonsville Avenue. Local access will be maintained and southbound traffic will not be affected.

This bridge project is scheduled to be complete in September 2014. All schedules are subject to change.

Beginning today (Sept. 25) and throughout the first phases of construction, the contractor will be shifting traffic lanes on PA 611 at the bridge. The center turn lane will be eliminated and a single lane northbound and southbound will be maintained during these first phases. Lane closures with flagging may be required when the new traffic patterns are implemented.

In a later phase of construction, PA 611 northbound traffic will be detoured between Rimrock Drive/Bartonsville Avenue and Bartonsville Avenue. The detour will utilize Bartonsville Avenue. Local access will be maintained and southbound traffic will not be affected.
