Met-Ed wants your old refrigerator.

MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. -

Met-Ed wants your old refrigerator or freezer.

The power company is offering $50 to people who get rid of old, energy-hogging refrigerators and freezers.

Met-Ed will even pick up the appliance and make sure it gets recycled.

"It's spring cleaning time. It's a good time get rid of those old refrigerators and freezers. They use up to three times more energy than new, efficient models," said Karen Baxter, Met-Ed spokeswoman.

Met-Ed said it has collected 70,000 refrigerators in Pennsylvania since the program started three years ago.

For more information about the recycling program, call Met-Ed at 1-877-270-3521 or visit energysavePA.com.
