Power outages in northern Berks County shouldn't be as bad as they've been in the past, now that electricity is flowing through Met-Ed's new substation.

JEFFERSON TWP., Pa. -

Power outages in northern Berks County shouldn't be as bad as they've been in the past, now that electricity is flowing through Met-Ed's new substation.

The company formally dedicated the Northkill Substation on Route 183 in Jefferson Township on Friday.

Met-Ed said the substation will help reduce the amount of power outages and the length of outages in the area.

The substation cost about $10 million to build.
