ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Sachariel Vinico Polanco has been sentenced to up to 23 months in prison for hitting a bicyclist in Allentown last year, but was granted immediate work release.

He entered a guilty plea last Tuesday and was sentenced to 9 to 23 months in Lehigh County Court. The judge also granted him work release.

The 24-year-old Polcano pleaded guilty to causing an accident that caused injury and driving without being properly licensed.

Allentown police say he struck and injured a  bicyclist with his car late at night on Sept. 1  at Hanover Avenue and East Linden Street in the city.

Polanco left his car and ran away from the accident scene, but turned himself in to police a short time later.
